Birthdays and Age Group Changes:
When you have a birthday that moves you to a new age group:
If your birthday is on or before the Concord Classic race, you will be in the higher age group for all races for the year, even the ones that have already taken place.
If your birthday is after the Concord Classic race, you stay in the lower age group for all races for the year, including those that take place after your birthday.
If your birthday is after the Concord Classic race, your new age group is the one you've been in, not the higher age group. Next year, you will be in the higher age group.
When you change age groups, you are moved to the new age group and both the new and old age groups are recalculated. Any points you get depend on how your time compares to the other participants in your new age group. The age group you moved from is recalculated without your time in it so those participants' points could change.
If you have points, you may end up with more or fewer points after moving to the new age group.
Any points you have don't go with you to the new age group. Whether or not you get points in the new age group, or how many, depends on how your time compares to the others in that age group for each race. If your birthday will move you to a new age group this season:
Send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, age and birthdate with a message that you are moving to a new age group this running season.
Considerable effort is made to get the scoring correct the first time and to catch when people change age groups. Scoring for the race series does not involve sophisticated software. It relies on using a spreadsheet and a lot of sorting, filtering, copying and pasting.
Mistakes will be made and things will be missed. If you find an error or something that needs to be changed, please send an e-mail to email@example.com.
